2.6 million for the mobility of Comenius pupils

The European Commission has published a call for proposals which allows 2.6 million euros to individual mobility of students within the Comenius programme, within the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union

Secondary school pupils in Belgium (German speaking community), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Austria, Finland, Sweden and Norway may enjoy individual mobility programs thanks to the new call for proposals issued by the Commission under the Comenius Lifelong Learning Programme.

The Comenius Individual Pupil Mobility action allows secondary school pupils to spend between 3 and 10 months in a host school and a host family abroad. Pupil mobilities are organised between schools involved in the same Comenius School Partnership.

The deadline for submitting proposals to the DG Education and Culture of the European Union ends on 1 December 2009.

The Comenius programme is part of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union 2007-2013, whose overall objective is to contribute through lifelong learning to the development of the European Union as an advanced knowledge society with sustainable economic growth, more and better jobs and greater social cohesion, while ensuring protection of the environment for future generations.

The programme enables individuals at all stages of their lives to pursue stimulating learning opportunities across Europe. There are four sub-programmes focusing on different stages of education and training and continuing previous programmes:

  • Comenius for schools
  • Erasmus for higher education
  • Leonardo da Vinci for vocational education and training
  • Grundtvig for adult education
