The international conference "Trust in the Information Society " is organized by the European Commission, the National Institute of Communication Technologies INTECO and eSEC technology platform, and it is part of the official events of the Spanish Presidency UE will be held throughout the first half of 2010.

The conference takes as its starting point the conclusions of RISEPTIS report prepared by the European Commission in 2009. The report contains recommendations that encompass a number of areas to be addressed as we move forward into the Digital Age. These include:

• Interdisciplinary research, technology development and deployment
• Initiatives to bring together technology, policy, legal and socio-economic actors to work towards a trustworthy Information Society
• A common EU framework for identity and authentication management
• Further development of the EU data protection and privacy legal framework
• Large-scale actions involving industrial and public actors, which take advantage of Europe's strengths in communication, research, legal studies and societal values
• Cooperation on a global scale to promote open standards and federated frameworks

From these recommendations has raised an event to be held in the Auditorium City of Leon (Spain), around a set of critical and e-trust focused issues:

• Digital Life and Trust.
• Trustworthy networking and computing services.
•  Management of Digital Identities in the Common European Framework.
• Development of the Legal Framework of the EU with regard to the Protection of Data and Privacy.

These and other important issues for the future of the Information Society in Europe will be discussed in depth during the event at sessions of a high strategic, including issues and topics of political and social scope, but also plenary sessions and workshops of a more technological character.
