Madrid hosts the opening gala of the Spanish Presidency

The Spanish Presidency and Ministry of Culture organize the official opening gala of the semester in which Spain will lead the EU with a dance show in Madrid's Teatro Real. The same day, Rodríguez Zapatero, Spanish prime minister, will meet Herman Van Rompuy and José Manuel Durão Barroso in the Palacio de la Moncloa, seat of the Spanish Government.

The Spanish prime minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero will have a meeting with the president of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy, and the president of the European Commission, José Manuel Durao Barroso, on friday January 8th at 13.30 h. in the Palacio de la Moncloa.

That evening, the Teatro Real of Madrid will host the official opening of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, the President of the Spanish Government and members of european institutions.

The gala will be offered by two big stars in classical and Flamenco dancing, Tamara Rojo and María Pagés. Each will interpret a repertoire loaded with symbolism and they will end the show dancing together for the first time.
