Concentration between Renault, Russian Technologies and AvtoVaz

The Commission has expresed Non-opposition to the notified concentration between Renault, Russian Technologies and AvtoVaz. On 8 April 2008, the Commission decided not to oppose the above notified concentration and to declare it compatible with the common market.

Following the earlier clearance of the mergerger between the companies, the french car factory and multi national business Renault has agreed to buy a quarter of the large Russian producer, AvtoVAZ. The purchase has been engineered by Renault in order to revive a dip in business and  reinfornce its control over, that which is soon to be, the largest car industry market in the world. Renault and Avtovaz representatives have already visited the site but have not yet put together a proposal for the purchase of the site which manufactures Chevrolet, Chery, Kia, Yuejin, BMW, Cadillac and Hummer vehicles.

Business plan

The Renault and AvtoVAZ plan is to produce produce a car costing around 15,000 dolars designed for the Russian market. They plan to have production reach 1.5 million a year.
