1. One more year the European Parliament launches the Charlemagne Youth Prize

    The European Parliament has presented the procedure for selecting the winners of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize for the 2013 edition. Those projects aimed at improving relations between citizens of different countries and willing to take part in the Prize will be able to submit their proposals until January 28th 2013.

    The European Parliament President Martin Schulz highlighted that the Charlemagne Youth Prize represents an excellent opportunity for young people to present their ideas about Europe and to make its contribution to the European project. The Award winning projects should serve as a model for young Europeans and be an example of different modes of coexistence and integration.

    Those interested to participate can submit their projects on-line until January 28th through the website of the Charlemagne Youth Prize 2013. The three selected projects will receive a prize of €5,000, €3,000 and €2,000 respectively, and their representatives will be invited to the European Parliament in autum. The ceremony for the Charlemagne Youth Awards 2013 will take place in may 2013 and winners will be invited to the International Charlemagne Prize of the City of Aachen award ceremony in May 7th 2013.

    The 2013 is the sixth edition since the launch of the first Charlemagne Youth Prize in 2008. The winner of the last edition was the Greek project Europe on the ground. Second and third prizes were awarded to a Czech program for Erasmus student exchange and to the Hungarian documentary Cycle Me Home.
