CoR presents a busy year for regions and cities in Europe

The Committee of the Regions presented by the end of December 2010 a programme of events in the pipeline for 2011, where as it has been the case in previous years the OPEN DAYS to be held in October will play a central role. This year, in addition to the events linked to the six Plenary sessions, there will also be some sessions and fora dedicated to some of the key issues of the year within EU agenda, as well as a number of other major events in cooperation with the incoming Presidencies.

One more year, the annual programme for the Committee of the Regions for year 2011 will be marked by the celebration between 10 and 13 October of the OPEN DAYS 2011, the 9th European Week of Regions and Cities, which this year will run under the theme Investing in Europe's future: Regions and cities delivering smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The OPEN DAYS, which every year gathers in Brussels representatives from European regions and cities to debate over the challenges they face, will be the central event for this year further to other events linked to the six Plenary sessions to be celebrated as well as some other seminar and fora taking place not only in Brussels but also in some EU regions.

The events programmed for year 2011 will also include some fora dedicated to the European Year on Volunteering which is celebrated during 2011, to decentralised cooperation in development, transport policy and Trans-European Networks as well as regional innovation and research policies. They will be accompanied by a number of other major events in cooperation with the incoming Presidencies.
