Over the years the EU policies have been changing their names and organization according to the priorities of Member States and their national parliaments. However, in Euroalert.net we have developed and maintained our subject categories for more than 10 years in order that all these changes are easy to understand for our user community.

EU policies are articulated in programming periods, and programmes and initiatives mark the EU's main priorities in a fixed policy for a period of time. Although almost all EU policies are planned for the 2007-2013 period, there are some exceptions, such as the Sixth Community Environment Action Programme, which covers the period 2002-2012. The more than 130 European programmes open for the current programming period (2007-2013) can be found in Euroalert.net.

Euroalert.net publishes all the programmes and initiatives of the European Union within the EU funding section. In addition we retain all the record of programmes previous programming periods already completed, such as the I Framework Programme for Research and Development with the same structure of contents, so it is very easy to study the relationship between current EU policy and previous priorities of the EU.
