Cork Airport Unit 1.3 – Convenience Store.

DAA is inviting proposals from Retail Operators for a Convenience Store unit in Cork Airport Terminal. This unit is located on Level 1 between Departures check-in and Arrivals adjacent to the main Airport Information Desk as shown on the attached drawing.

(Refer Section 7). Location Ref. Use Size M2

    Level 1 - Landside 1.3 Convenience Store 123.

The proposed offer for the unit should reflect the overall strategy for Retail Concessions.

The DAA Retail Concessions Strategy is as follows:

    — increased customer penetration,

    — improved value perceptions,

    — increase spends,

    — genuine customer interaction,

    — design led environments,

    — presenting the best brands,

    — delivering innovation,

    — providing exceptional customer service.

The successful operator will be expected to provide customers with revitalised or new product offerings that address the key issues of product, price and ambience, instead of relying wholly on brands.

Innovation and a focus on ongoing product development coupled with genuine customer interaction will be the key deliverables from any offer. The dedicated space should reflect the above but also where possible deliver a differentiated proposition to the customer.

    Suggested Retail Mix.

    Unit 1.3 Cork Airport 123m2.

The unit will sell merchandise common to a typical branded convenience store, including takeaway fresh sandwich/food offer, takeaway tea/coffee and newspapers but with the exception of Books which are not allowed to be sold from this unit.

The mix may consist of the above categories plus any other associated merchandise the tenderer may wish to offer and as agreed by Dublin Airport Authority. Merchandise ranges must consist of market leaders in each category and may not be confined to one manufacturer’s range only.

Refer Section 1.8 for tender options.

The Loop is the over-arching shopping brand of the DAA and all proposals should reflect the brand values.

Whenever and wherever people see The Loop they will know that it’s the sign of great quality retail; with great brands, products and retailers from home and around the world.

The central pillars of this strategy are:

    — Price Promise – Never Beaten By Downtown Pricing,

    — Knowledgeable and Articulate Staff,

    — Innovative Customer Services,

    — Demystifying Airport Shopping – Make Shopping Simple for Passengers,

    — Dynamic Events Programmes.

The successful operator in Cork Airport will be expected to provide customers with products which are priced competitively and benchmarked with three downtown outlets to be selected at the discretion of DAA. Price audits (and mystery shopping) will be carried out on a regular basis.

Tenderers must include price lists in their proposals. Benchmarking references should also be supplied.
