Objectives

The global objective of this Call for Proposals is to strengthen local environmental governance to promote sustainable socio-economic development of the Lake Cocibolca in Nicaragua.

The specific objective of this Call for Proposals is to develop local environmental inclusive management initiatives, participatory and transparent that contribute to the local economic and social development and sustainable management of natural resources in the departments of Rivas and San Juan River.

Actions

Actions fall within the priorities of the Call for Proposals which are:

  1. Implementation of participatory and inclusive actions contained in the Municipal Environmental Plans or Municipal Development Plans with a significant impact on the environment, linked to intermunicipal watershed management and environmental policy that drives MARENA.
  2. Development of income-generating initiatives for municipal governments through sustainable management of natural resources and land use, according to criteria of equity and transparency.
  3. Support innovative mechanisms and concerted actions for sustainable economic activities, promoting public-private partnerships.
  4. Support participation and social control in municipal environmental management, promoting the development of skills and awareness of citizens.

European community funding

The Community provisional funding available for the call for proposals is:

  • 1,18 Million EUR (Orientation of the budget)
