European Research Council ERC Synergy Grants will enable small groups of Principal Investigators and their teams bringing together complementary skills, knowledge, and resources, to jointly address research problems at the frontier of knowledge going beyond what the individual Principal Investigators could achieve alone.

The aim of this call is to promote substantial advances in the frontiers of knowledge, and to encourage new productive lines of enquiry and new methods and techniques, including unconventional approaches and investigations at the interface between established disciplines.

Guiding principles of the ERC Synergy Grant

• Scientific excellence is the sole selection criterion.
• Projects in all fields of research are eligible for funding.
• A small group of PIs (2-4) with a designated Corresponding PI is supported.
• Grants are awarded to the host institution that engages the Corresponding PI .
• The host institution(s) guarantee(s) the PIs' independence and provides the research environment to carry out the project and manage the funding.

• Any legal organisation

Bodies or institutes must have their registered legal seat in one of the countries taking part in the Programme which are:

• European Union (EU)
• Third countries

• Global Budget: 150.00 M€
