1. Call for Proposals - "Factories of the Future" - 2013 - FP7-2013-NMP-ICT-FOF

    published in OJEU C 202, 10.07.2012, p. 6 under Research & Innovation

    Develops the ...
Specific Programme "Cooperation" of the European Community for research, technological development and demonstration activities (2007 to 2013)
    description and objectives

The objective of the Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and New Production Technologies (NMP) work programme is to improve the competitiveness of European industry and generate knowledge to ensure its transformation from a resource-intensive to a knowledge-intensive industry, by generating step changes in knowledge and implementing decisive knowledge for new applications at the crossroads between different technologies and disciplines. This will benefit both new, high-tech industries and higher-value, knowledge-based traditional industries, with a special focus to the appropriate dissemination of RTD results to SMEs.

The work programme 2013 aligns with, and contributes towards, the objectives of Europe 2020, the Innovation Union Flagship, and other EU policies. There is a determined focus on fostering new ideas, supporting world class teams tackling significant societal challenges, and on ensuring that the fruits of our investments can be properly exploited. In this way the work programme provides for a smooth transition towards the new research and innovation programme for 2014-2020, Horizon 2020.

This call, 'Factories of the Future' Public-Private Partnership (FoF) is a crossthematic coordination between NMP and ICT programmes. The objective of this PPP initiative is to help EU manufacturers across sectors, in particular SMEs, to adapt to global competitive pressures by increasing the technological base of EU manufacturing through the development and integration the enabling technologies of the future, such as engineering technologies for adaptable machines and industrial processes, ICT, and advanced materials.
