Objectives

The European Union has published a new Calls for Proposals with the aim of financing stategies of permanent learning. Te general objective of the permanent learning programme is:

  1. To contribute to the development of quality lifelong learning, and to promote high performance, innovation and a European dimension in systems and practices in the field.
  2.  To support the realisation of a European area for lifelong learning.
  3. To help improve the quality, attractiveness and accessibility of the opportunities for lifelong learning available within Member States.
  4. To reinforce the contribution of lifelong learning to social cohesion, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, gender equality and personal fulfilment.
  5. To help promote creativity, competitiveness, employability and the growth of an entrepreneurial spirit.
  6. To contribute to increased participation in lifelong learning by people of all ages, including those with special needs and disadvantaged groups, regardless of their socio-economic background.
  7. To promote language learning and linguistic diversity.
  8. To support the development of innovative ICT-based content, services, pedagogies and practice for lifelong learning.
  9. To encourage the best use of results, innovative products and processes and to exchange good practice in the fields covered by the Lifelong Learning Programme, in order to improve the quality of education and training.

Actions

  1. To support trans-national cooperation in the development and implementation of coherent and comprehensive national lifelong learning strategies at both the national and regional level, covering all types and levels of learning.Tto support the identification of the main critical factors influencing the successful putting into place of national lifelong learning strategies.
  2. To exchange experiences and good practice and to jointly experiment, test and transfer innovation in relation to the development and implementation of lifelong learning strategies.
  3. To ensure strong institutional commitment, coordination and partnership with all stakeholders.
  4. To implement lifelong learning strategies to achieve efficiency and equity.

European community funding

The Community provisional funding available for the call for proposals is:

  • 1,50 Million EUR (Annual budget for 2008)

  • 13 August 2008 - 15 years ago (Deadline for the presentation of proposals)

Opened to the following bodies or institutes with legal status established in the covered areas:

  • Universities
  • Public authorities (all)

Covered areas

Bodies or institutes must have their registered legal seat in one of the countries taking part in the Programme which are:

  • European Union (EU)
  • Candidate Countries
  • European Economic Area (EEA)
  • Third countries
