Preparatory Action MEDIA International MEDIA 2007 Closed!
Objectives
The main objectives of the "MEDIA International" preparatory action are:
- To reinforce artistic and industrial cooperation between audiovisual professionals from EU markets and those from other countries'.
- To improve the showing and circulation of audiovisual works from other countries within European markets and, vice versa, that of European audiovisual works in those other countries.
The ‘Preparatory Action MEDIA International’ is intended to examine and test cooperation activities between
European film professionals and professionals of third countries. It covers:
- Support for training.
- Support for promotion.
- Support for the development of cinema networks.
Actions
This Preparatory Action will operate on the basis of reciprocity i.e. mutual benefit for the European audiovisual sector and that of third countries. The actions that are envisaged are:
Continuous Training
Address organizations or consortia of organizations proposing training of professionals in the audio-visual sector (production, co-production, distribution, and promotion).
Promotion of cinematographic works
Facilitate and encourage the conclusion of agreements between distributors/exporters from European Union and distributors/exporters from third countries; marketing and circulation (encourage emergence of artistic and industrial cooperation networks) of European films in third countries and, by the same token, market films from third countries within the European Union.
Cinema Networks
Support to cinema networks which devote a significant share of their programming to European films in third countries and who commit themselves to programming a similar proportion of films from third countries.
European community funding
The Community provisional funding available for the call for proposals is:
- 1,98 Million EUR (Annual budget for 2008)
